In recent years, with the development of the global market economy andknowledge economy the manufacturing industry is facing the hitherto unknownchallenge. Meeting the individual needs of customers has become a developingdirection of modern enterprise, and it is a problem for enterprises how to rapidlydesign products which meet needs of customers with lower cost. So far, thedomestic and foreign researchers on mass customization production research hasmade some progress, but most researches concentrated in the aspects of concept andproduct design of mass customization, however, researches of the specific softwareimplementation was still rare. Therefore this paper focuses on order-driven productsdesign system, and the main work includes the following aspects:Firstly, combining the features of the order-driven production, the wholeprocess of product configuration design and scheduling system is divided intocustomer requirements acquisition and processing, product family, productconfiguration and production scheduling.And separately the basic principle of theproduct configuration and scheduling system is elaborated.Secondly, the function of the product configuration design and schedulingsystem is designed.The system as a whole is divided into four layers: applicationlayer, functional layer, data layer and basic service layer; according to the abovetheory the system is divided into four corresponding functional subsystems; thereare the analysis on the whole function structure of the system and a detaileddescribe on the function of each module.Finally, combining the study of theory above, generally the mechanical productconfiguration design and scheduling system is designed. The environment andtechnology of the system is introduced and the coding of the parts in product familyis designed. Finally, the operation interface of the system is introduced, and thetheory and method which the paper studied are validated.
