Now there are plenty of old industrial constructions in many citis of our country, the lifetime of which has not reached the half of their life-cycle. Some old industrialconstructions are well rebuilded and reused. But except some protected industrialheritages, most of the old industrial constructions are named art creative industrydevelopment zone, fashion’s district and so on. And business men obtain thecommercial interests from this. Cultural assumptions and ecological ideas aregradually missing as the time’s going. So the old industrial constructions’transformation should be diversified to satisfy the different demands of using. At thesame time, the expanding enrollment of universities every year leads to a spaceabsence of the teaching and communication. The universities need to expand newschools and construction spaces to meet the development requirements. Thus in thebackground of preaching low-carbon, the expandation of university constructions canturn to the old industrial plants and the old industrial constructions in or nearby theschool. So, at the time of solving the absence of university space, the environmentalspace can also be improved. In addition to industrial Cultural Continuity, it can alsoreduce the costs for the university. The paper first explained the transformation of old industrial construction, thenstudied the background, questions and the tendency of it, at the same time, it studiedthe background, questions and the tendency of the current university development. Aswell as it seeked for the appropriate direction to expand the construction space. Thetwo points matched with each other quite well, after further analysised we get thesubject of this paper: that is exploration of old industrial construction rebuilding touniversity construction space development. It analysised the strategies oftransforming the whole plants and the single building to university constructionsdesperately. And in order to search for the most suitable transformed strategy, itanalysised from the macroscopic level to microscopic level, from the unity to theindividuals and from the surface to the inner. The paper focuses on the low-carbontransformed strategy and is described concretely by several project cases. After apreliminary exploration, it gets a new path for old industrial construction’s seeking ofdiversified transformation and the development of university construction spaces.
