With the rapid economic development, the development of China’s power industry is also growing fast. With the rapid growth of the power industry, the power grid capacity increases fast. It is important to use ultra-high voltage to solve the power transmission problem. Available transfer capability analysis can be used to maintain the security of system operation, and handle the transmission congestion, and so on. In the electricity market it has become a very important and practical subject to analyze the available transfer capability problem.In this paper, the current calculation method of available transfer capability is researched. Through comparing the methods, a ultra-high voltage available transfer capability based on the static voltage stability constraints is proposed. It combined with advanced optimization methods solution to analyze solutions of available transfer capability. Specific works are as follows:1) Analyze domestic and international developments of UHV transmission and the range of UHV AC transmission.2) Compare the existing computation models of available transmission capacity of the grid. Compare the merits of existing methods from both the model accuracy and speed of algorithms.3) Threats to the system voltage stability is an important factor in the safe operation. In this paper, optimal power flow of available transmission capacity based on the voltage stability constrained is produced, and it is solved by using the interior point method.4) Finally, methods and merriments to approve the grid available transmission capacity are given in the paper.
