When the power system has complicated fault, circuit breakers and protection devices malfunction and miss operation, information loss caused by the channel interference or many other uncertainties, this would troubles the fault analysis and decision of the operator, at the same time, due to the rapidly increase of substation scale and complexity, especially in the case of multiple faults or incorrect operation circuit breaker, the substation control center will receive a large amount of information. The information needing to be processed can be so large that human ability to comprehend this information can easily be overwhelmed. Thus, it is very necessity and insistent to study new fault diagnosis ways for substation. Therefore, it is necessary to develop a substation fault information comprehensive analysis and decision system which is capable of fast and accurate fault analysis and decision to reduce the system outage time, recover power supply, to guarantee the safe and stable operation of the system.Based on the present situation and future development trends of power system, this paper proposes a fault information comprehensive analysis and decision system for substation using the fault diagnosis of artificial neural network and artificial expert system. This paper analyzes the foundation and support technology of fault information analysis and decision system. Based on the smart devices, artificial intelligence and information sharing network, it realize the faster and exacter fault information analysis and decision system.The core content of the dissertation includes two parts. First, this paper proposes Expert System based on Artificial Neural Network. This theory introduce the reasoning algorithm of ANN in ES, by combining the advantages of ES and ANN, the capability of fast decision, fault tolerance and self-learning is much improved, so it is more suitable for fault information analysis and decision system. On the basis of the algorithm, this paper prospers multi-modules fault information analysis and decision system. The system through the cooperation and reasonable arrangement between each intelligence modules, realize substation fault automatic and auxiliary decision-making process, both including conventional fault quickly and efficiently stylized dispose, and complex new fault aided decision making, then operation personnel make identify and correction, which can be quick and accurate fault location and removing, to guarantee the safe and stable operation of the system.Finally, there is CSGC3000SA fault information analysis and decision system simple introduction and case analysis, from the point of view of practical application proved the system does meet the requirement of smart substation fault information analysis and decision.
