The vacuum circuit breaker has been widely used due to the fast development of the electric power industry. Its quality directly affects the stability of the power distribution system. Studying on the corresponding parameters and the simulating analysis to improve the voltage withstand ability and the reliability of the vacuum circuit breaker therefore has active meaning.This article researches on the motion simulation of the vacuum circuit breaker based on the software ADAMS. The structure of the explosion chamber and the operating mechanism is firstly analyzed. Meanwhile, the primary mechanical parameters such as the distance between the contactors, the contacting stroke, the contacting press, the open-close velocity of the brakes and so on are studied. Then the analysis model of the vacuum circuit breaker is set up by ADAMS, based on which the motion of the core components is simulated and the profile of the cam is designed. Finally, the character curves during the cam closing process are obtained on the basis of the simulation on the key parameters that affects the performance of the contactors. Besides, the parameters such as the baffle thickness which affects the cam-closing performance are optimized. And a group of optimal parameter values are obtained at the end.The research presented in this thesis offers a reference for the design and improvement of the vacuum circuit breaker and therefore has active meaning.
