With the increasing deficiency of water resources, water saving has become the important content to promote production and development. As an industrial water user, how to save the yield of water and reduce the amount of sewage has become the major issue of the power plant’s survival and development. In recent years, China has constantly pay attention to the environmental protection, the first element of power plants is to use reasonable technology and models to achieve water saving. Therefore, the research on water saving technology and models of power plants has a vital practical significance to reduce the capacity of the unit’s water consumption and generating cost, and to improve the utilization efficiency of water. Meanwhile, this research is also a kind of important measures to the sustainable development of the power plants.The past research of power plants’water engineering has only emphasized on the water saving technology research and the concept of the wastewater zero discharge but not given a comprehensive discussion on the technology of each system and the way of recycling process optimization. The author of this paper shows a typical demonstrated water saving power plant in north China as the research object, bases on the principle of reasonable technology and economic rationality, takes the water balance test of this power plant as the foundation, according to the specific analysis of different systems and drainage water quality, defines the feasibility analysis of each system’s drainage and the reuse of the waste water, puts forward the corresponding treating technology and several typical water saving technology and wastewater reuse approaches, drafts "wastewater zero discharge " water balance figure of the power plants’water saving model, then evaluates the expected effect. Finally, the author optimizes of the water-saving measures and water saving model, proposes the water saving model of300MW set power plant which used the underground water as the source, provides advice and reference to carry out the establishment and promotion of water saving standard and institution.
