It is the time of lacking of energy at present.Along with the increasing awareness of theimportance of the emission reduction, it becomes more and more important to study theenergy saving of the modem buildings.The air-conditioning system is the main constituent ofthe building controls system in the intelligent building, and its functions are to create a goodair quality and provide a comfortable living environment, but meanwhile it is also the majorenergy consumption of buildings, taking up more than50%of energy consumption. Inhigh-rise buildings, some even more than80%. Along with the enhancement of people livingstandard, the air-conditioning system were widespread used, energy saving became theuniversal matter of people concerned. As one of the building energy saving measures, theVAV air-conditioning system is not only significantly energy saving, flexible operation, butalso easy modification or extension, which makes it become the main trend ofair-conditioning system design in a building automation system.This paper first introduces the Variable Air Volume air conditioning system andJOHNSON-METASYS intelligent building management system, and then has made a detailedanalysis and description of the Variable Air Volume air conditioning system control structuresand control methods. Finally, taking the typical VAV air conditioning system for controllingmodel and the American company JOHNSON-METASYS intelligent building managementsystems and direct digital controller and other related products for the research platform, I hasdesigned and applicated the variable air volume air conditioning system in an actual project.By the analysis of the project of VAV air conditioning system, I has determined systemmonitoring points, chosen the equipment and has also designed METASYS system PCinterfaces with the use of configuration software on workstation.
