| With the accelerated pace of urbanization, population and number of vehicles aregrowing, and urban public transport needs are increasing continuously. In order to meetthe growing demand of public transport, urban public transport is actively developed inthe world countries, BRT is widely used and developed especially, anddouble-articulated bus is also used for public transport in some countries, developmentof urban public transport vehicles are moving toward large-capacity and large-scale.Urban public transport vehicles used in our country mainly contain single bus,single-articulated bus, and these vehicles, especially at peak times can not meetdemand, double-articulated bus is not put into use in our country, the main reason isthat people worried about the road passing ability of the long vehicle. In this paper,driving condition and passing ability of a double-articulated bus with25meters lengthon the urban road is analyzed. Firstly, it introduces the external factors which impactpassing ability of double-articulated bus, and also puts forward problems encounteredon urban roads easily; Secondly, the driving conditions is analyzed simply when thebus changes lanes, takes a turn, goes through pathway, the formulas of the minimumturning radius and channel width are also derived, the curve driving characteristics of adouble-articulated bus is researched with graphic way; Thirdly, a simulation model ofthe double-articulated bus is established, then it simulates that the vehicle changeslanes, turns at the intersection, goes into and leaving harbor station, and analyses thesimulation results; Lastly, the road passing ability is evaluated objectively based on thesimulation results, it also gives the ways and advices to enhance and improve the roadpassing ability of double-articulated bus.Research shows that a25-meter-long double-articulated bus can not drive in theturning channel ring determined by GB1589—2004; The3.5-meter-wide lane canbasically meet the passing ability requirements of double-articulated bus; it also getsthe size parameters of harbor station for double-articulated bus, etc. By the research inthis paper, we can know the adaptive capacity of double-articulated bus; it can alsoprovide theoretical support and reference for using on the road in our country. |
