The yurt is an important part of the traditional Mongolian culture. It is Notonly typical Mongolian architectural art form, but also a concentratedexpression of Mongolian folk art, conveying the Mongolian history ofcivilization. The shape、structure、pattern、decoration of the yurt reflectMongolian culture、art、social history and beliefs. Nowadays, the yurtbecome one of the Mongolian most significant visual symbols and folkcharacteristics. The yurt is not only to meet the material and practical needs ofthe Mongolians, but also to meet the Mongolian’s spiritual needs.The yurt is a symbol of Northern minority group’s life pattern, as well asan extended tradition of nomadic mode of living. Since ancient times, art ofyurt is a model of Mongolian plastic arts, its shapes、space and aestheticsshow content of Mongolian society lively. The yurt’s art of space record theaesthetic tendencies of the Mongolians. The symbolism of yurt’s art is thesubject of this paper. The yurt is a multiple art that include architecture、furniture、utensils、decorations and etc. The paper focused on its structure、layout、decoration. Through expound the formation history、development andchanges of yurt to reveal how this plastic arts show the meaning ofMongolian ethnic group’s culture and custom and analyze its symbolicexistence’s deep-rooted reason.
