Sulfonated acetone-formaldehyde resin (SAF) is one of the kinds of aliphatic sulfonatewater reducer admixtures. Because of easily available raw materials, the simply productionprocess and the little temperature effect on the water-reducing efficiency, it was well used incement and concrete. But in SAF industrial production, sulfonation agent type was inconsi-stentent, insulting in different reduction of water dispersion and high production cost.In this paper, sodium sulfite and sodium pyrosulfite was used as sulfonation agent tosynthesize sulfonated acetone-formaldehyde resin; the characters of both were compared. Bymeasuring the characters of both and considering cost saving, sodium pyrosulfite should bechosen as sulfonating agent.In order to reduce production cost, LG was used to modify SAF, Characters of modifiedSAF were tested and compared with SAF. LG was used to modify sulfonated acetone-formaldehyde resin, the best mass ratio between Sodium lignin sulfonate and suffocatingagent was confirmed as1:4. By comparing with SAF and LSAF, it is concluded that each ofcharacters of LSAF, such as disperse character, slumps and compressive strength, was betterthan SAF.In order to optimize synthesis conditions, the effect of reaction temperature, reactiontime and the way of feeding in raw materials were analyzed, the effect of different dosage ofSAF on water reducing rate, slumps and compressive strength of concrete were discussed.The slumps and compressive strength of SAF were compared with FDN. The compound ofSAF and other water reducing admixture was studied. Water reducing rate, slumps andcompressive strength of concrete was with increasing of the dosage of SAF. Slumps andcompressive strength of concrete of SAF were almost the same when compared with FDNand ASF.By compounding SAF and other water reducing admixture, it is concluded that the bestmass ratio between SAF and LG was3:2, the best mass ratio between SAF and PC was3:2,the best mass ratio between SAF and FDN was3:2...
