With China’s rapid economic development, China’s railway industry is also undergoing rapid changes. With the rapid development, how to ensure the safe operation of the locomotive in the high-speed and complex road conditions has become the priority in the railway department. High voltage transformer in a certain type of AC electric locomotives are cast resin dry-type transformers, the main functions include catenary voltage measurement, power measurement and protection, It’s installed in locomotive roof and exposed to a changeable environment for a long time, burning, cracking or even explosion happen occasionally, and even lead to power substation trip, dismember the catenary which led to vehicular accidents and other serious consequences. Therefore, the dry-type high-voltage transformer online monitoring system R&D applies to an electric locomotive, real-time monitoring the device status in the run, record the monitoring parameters and display warnings have great significance, not only to protect the safety of locomotive and railway transportation, but also provides a qualitative analysis basis of improve the reliability and stability of the transformer itself.The main content of this paper include the following five sections:(1) Describes the relevant content of the locomotive high voltage transformer, the paper puts forward the research content, purpose and significance through the analysis of the research background and research status.(2) Describe the research of online monitoring for high voltage transformer. The main phenomena before fault are as following:The network voltage will be high untruly and equipment body is overheating. According to the principle of electrical transformer, the fault mechanism are deeply analyzed. And the online monitoring signals are secondary voltage, primary side current and temperature which are proved to be feasible.(3) The hardware architecture of monitoring system is determined, of which use STC12C5A60S2as cybernetics core of the whole system, expanding a series of function circuits. The hardware system includes signal acquisition system, interface circuit, data storage circuit, display circuit and other auxiliary circuit. (4) Described the construction of software platform based on embedded operating system μC/OS-Ⅱ. Introduced the embedded operating system, completed the transplantation of μC/OS-Ⅱ in monitoring system, and constructed data flow model of software in the monitoring system. According to the data flow model, set the division of tasks and determined the priority of the system.(5) Introduced design of applying software in the monitoring system. Designed the tasks of signal acquisition, data storage, data copy, monitor and pre-warning process in modular approach. Validated the function of the system, and analyzed the data collected in MATLAB.
