Fire detectors have been widely used in buildings. It is a necessary process that ability of fire detector is assessed. Fire Emulator-Detector Evaluation(FE/DE) is used to test sensitivity of fire detector. Flow field of smoke box is monitored by detecting elements of FE/DE. In the article, we have numerical simulation of smoke box by using software of fluent, which is a part of Computation Fluid Dynamics (CFD).It is result that researchers can realize and regulate the flow field in smoke box with a new view.Firstly, we have numerical simulation in the way of open type and close type. The conclusion is that close type is better than open type. Close type is beneficial for controlling flow field and increasing stability of flow field. It also saves energy for FE/DE.Secondly, according to national standard of fire detector, the experiment of airflow stability and temperature has been completed by close type. On the condition of close type, we can analyze flow field and temperature field of whole smoke box and the area of nearby detector. It is result that the best steady flow field can be obtained when velocity rang is controlled at0.2~0.3m/s. Moreover, temperature field has little changed and has little effect on flow field.Finally, the detectors which have different positions and angles are analyzed numerical simulation in testing area. We can analyze flow field in smoke box and the area of nearby detector and obtain distribution of pressure and velocity. According to all cases, we can know the most favorable and unfavorable positions.
