This paper presents the static analysis of tensegrity structures. Moreover, theform-finding, stiffness and stability of tensegrity structures are conducted. Furthermore,the main results are concluded as follows.1. The detailed history and open problems of tensegrity structures are introducedin chapter1. Afterwards, the self-stress property and form-finding methods oftensegrity structures are analyzed and compared.2. The static model is established using the principle of minimum potential energy.Then, the form-finding of a planar and spacial tensegrity structures is performed on thebasis of the principle of minimum potential energy. Furthermore, an improved forcedensity method is applied to find the static configurations of tensegrity structuresaccording to nonlinear geometric constraints of tensegrity structures3. The stiffness matrix is discussed by combining the stiffness and stability of thetensegrity structure. Moreover, the stability conditions of tensegrity structures areobtained according to the positivity of the stiffness matrix. Afterwards, a zero stiffnesstensegrity structure is given in accordance with the stability conditions.
