The role of maglev system is to use electromagnetic force to overcome the object’s gravity, and the object maintains a fixed position along or around one axis of a reference framework with no contact between the suspension and the support, the system has a series of merits such as no wear, without lubrication, no pollution, no noise, long life as well as be safe and reliable and so on. Nowadays, maglev technology is widely used, such as maglev train and different kinds of magnetic bearings.In this paper, the principium of magnetic levitation technology is shown, the different kinds of magnetic levitation technology are introduced, research status and technology research development are also presented. The operating principle of sinple degree freedom of electropermanent suspension system is introduced. The theory mathematical mode and experimental mode are established, and the finite element method is used during the analysis. Based on this, a kind of long air gap and single freedom electromagnetic system is designed, the characteristics of electromagnetic force and magnetic field distribution of the system are completed. The debug of the whole system is also made. The resule of the whole test of the system do meet the requirement which had been expected. The single-freedom control of the electromagnetic suspension system is completely realized.
