As the fist domestic UHV transmission lines, the1000KV UHV AC test demonstrationtransmission line is at the heart of national power grid construction. Due to the long UHVtransmission lines、significant changes in the atmosphere along the line、much crossing ofvalley and river, the accident of ice disaster and pollution flashover may happen, which wouldpose a direct threat to the security operation of transmission line. The mechanism analysis andthe online monitoring of micrometeorological region have important consequences for gettingthe line operation status, guiding the inspection of operation department and repair work. Thearticle would differentiate the icing region, galloping region and aerolian vibration regionalong the UHV transmission lines and complete the UHV on-line monitoring installationplanning through the mechanism of micrometeorological region and on-line monitoringtechnology. Content is as follows:This article studied the theory of conductor galloping model, ice growth model, and soon. It made on-the-spot investigation along the UHV transmission lines and achieved thecharacteristic information of microclimate and microtopography. It has preliminarily summedup the features and production conditions of micrometeorological region and distributed theUHV AC test demonstration transmission line. For example,175-176Tower across TangheRiver belongs to iced region,339Tower is part of aerolian vibration region.The mainstream on-line monitoring technology of transmission line icing, conductorgalloping and video surveillance is detailedly analysed.In this paper, it was combined with thedivided result of the UHV transmission lines micrometeorological region to achieve the sitelayout planning of the various on-line monitoring equipments in the UHV transmission linesmicrometeorological region. For instance, the UHV339Tower that crossing the Yellow Riverarea should be installed with the aerolian vibration on-line monitoring equipments and videomonitoring device. Combining with the development needs of Smart Grid, the TransmissionLines Condition on-line Monitoring Agent (CMA) which based on Embedded Linuxoperating system is developed. CMA, its hardware core is S3C2440, including Wifi module,Ethernet module, GPRS module, ZigBee module, power module and so on. Currently, this device has successfully passed type test, it is preparing to application.Finally, the on-line monitoring data of UHV transmission line are organized in this paper.It also analyses the process of the accident about ice growth and aerolian vibration in theUHV transmission line. In addition, the line operation status is initially evaluated. Accordingto the partitioned micrometeorological region and on-line monitoring assessment results, theoperation department combined with its site experience can formulate targeted special tour ofinspection and maintenance measures so as to improve the operation technology level andefficiencies.
