Study Of A Comprehensive Transportation System Of Han Dan City

Traditional transportation like highway and railway cannot meet the requirement of thecity’s increasingly fast expansion, so it is an important task to coordinate the manifold needsof the transportation in the development of the city. Nowadays, modes of transportation likehighway, railway, civil aviation, rail transit, public transit as well as passenger and freightmarket are valued much as they are playing more and more important roles in thedevelopment of the city.Located in the south of Hebei province, Handan city lies on the border of the other threenearby provinces including Shanxi, Shandong and Henan. It is one of the179traffic hubs inChina and it has an obvious ascendant location for its advanced transportation.Working in Handan Transportation Bureau, the author combines with his practicalexperience and does a lot of efforts in his everyday work in the development of the transportsystem to write the graduation thesis.Starting from the real distinguishing feature of Handan city, the author investigated thedevelopment of the city’s urban economy, society and traffic since the10th Five-Year Plan ofthe city. He also studied the position of the city in Hebei province and even in China,researched its development fashion, collected data including statistical yearbook anddevelopment planning from all areas over the years.The thesis discusses several aspects in the city’s transportation such as the presentsituation, the existing problems and transportation analysis, forms a comprehensivetransportation system development strategy of the city. It also sets a two-part goal, which is, ashort-term one to the year2015and a long-term one to2020.Having made a cohesive patternin highway, railway, civil aviation along with urban transportation, the author puts forward theimplementation and its scale in the city’s near future development on the basis of his analysis.According to the author’s research, there is an obvious ascendant location in Handan city.Not only should the development of the city itself be considered, but its honor as a traffic hubshould be pushed forward. It is a crucial moment for the city to construct its comprehensivetransportation system in our country’s12th Five-Year Plan period, so we should catch hold of this opportunity to improve and perfect the city’s comprehensive transportation system.
