In order to improve the road service levels and respond to national sustainabledevelopment, the modern highway construction put forward higher requirements aboutasphalt pavement performance, economy, energy saving and environmental protection andso on. The Honeywell TitanTMpolymer (Hon) modifier is a new modifier which HoneywellR&D aim at the asphalt and bitumen mixture. It can be used for asphalt modification, notonly to increase asphalt PG grade but also to reduce the viscosity of bitumen and it has abroad prospects for application. While it has not been a systematic study at present that ifthis product is applicable after introduced to China or not, and which type of constructionprocess should be used in order to obtain good results.This paper used Hon7205modifier as the research object and the asphalt mixturepavement performance as evaluation criteria. It can be concluded through experimentalstudy at four kinds of modifier add processes and five kinds of modifier content, andcombined with the modification mechanism of Hon7205modifier: the optimal dosage rangeof Hon7205was the quality of mineral aggregate by0.2%to0.3%, and the best add processwas add Hon7205modifier mixing after the aggregate and asphalt mixing evenly, andfinally add the mineral powder. Gyratory compaction and Marshall compaction were usedas two kinds of molding method, and through transformation of the compaction temperatureto research compaction characteristics of the Hon7205and SBS modified asphalt mixture inaccordance with the density peak method and the principle of same volume, it can beconcluded that the optimal compaction temperature of the Hon7205and SBS modifiedasphalt mixture is130℃and161℃respectively. Then CEI (compaction energy index) ofcompaction stage of asphalt mixture at the optimal compaction temperature was calculatedto obtain that11.3%of compaction function can be saved by the Hon7205modified asphaltmixture.The model test in laboratory and test road in field proved that, the constructiontechnique of Hon7205modified asphalt mixture which confirmed in this paper was applicability for different types of aggregates, asphalts and mixtures, and could be used tocontinuous dense-graded asphalt mixture construction; the optimum asphalt content can bereduced and asphalt mixture pavement performance can be improved, especially thehigh-temperature property, if the asphalt mixture was modified by Hon7205modifier, andthe effect is best for fine asphalt mixture, followed by medium-grained type and coarseasphalt mixture; there were the advantages of energy saving and environmental protectionas well as ease of compaction characteristics by using this techniques to construct asphaltmixture.
