As a kind of new energy, wind energy has great support of governments around theworld in recent years. The development of wind energy relies on the preliminary study inthe lab. However, the wind turbine is special and the wind source is random, so that it ishard to do experiment with a real wind turbine. And do wind power research with windpower simulation platform is a good choice. This paper does research about wind turbinesimulation technology and maximum power point tracking (MPPT).In the first, we build a wind power simulation platform in the lab. Use inductionmotor to simulate the wind turbine. This platform use permanent magnet synchronousgenerator (PMSG) to generate electricity. An inverter is used to drive the induction motor. At the same time, proposed a program that use a Buck converter to adjust the load ofgenerator, and then, introduce the design of hardware and control software which based onVC++6.0. The software can control the platform to do wind turbine simulation experimentand MPPT experiment.Second, use the platform to imitate a small power wind power system. Thesimulation process is achieved by tracking the torque and rotate speed of a small powerwind turbine. Use HSC control method to track the maximum power point. The resultshows that this platform can imitate the wind turbine and do research on MPPT.Last, this paper gives a MPPT control method which based on Model Free AdaptionControl and analysis this controller. This is a Tip-Speed-Ratio control method. UseMatlab/Simulink build the simulation model and do imitate based on the model. Both theexperiment result and simulation result show that, this controller can control the windturbine runs at the best rotate speed, so that the wind turbine could get the maximumpower form the wind.
