The regular safe operation of the urban water supply system is one of the essentialelements of sustainable development in the region, the phenomenon that undergrounddelivery pipe line leaks has occurred frequently can not only lead to waste of waterresources, but also cause certain national economy loss, even seriously threaten thesafety of life and property. So it has great social benefits and economic benefits ofreducing the waste of water resources and ensuring normal production of industry andnormal life of residents that carry out the method research of underground waterpipeline leak positioning to find out a fast, accurate and efficient pipeline leakdetection positioning method. With FFT-based time delay estimation algorithm as a theoretical basis, theunderground water pipeline leak positioning system has been designed, which candetermine the location of the leak by the pipeline leak signal acquisition analysis andpositioning processing, and has high practical value. In this paper, the leakage signal frequency ranged is determined by its time andfrequency domain analysis, and the simulation analysis of wavelet threshold de-noisingand the correlation time delay estimation algorithm. Designed the system by using theUnited State TI’s fix-point processor TMS320VC5420as the core chip, including thechoice of transducer, the design of the amplifier filter circuit, the signal de-noising andpositioning algorithm realization, the hard ware and software design of data conversionmodule and display control module and so on. It is showed in the system experimentaltests that the result is accurate and the positioning is effectively.
