Power industry is one of important industries in China. It is also the lifeline ofnational economy related to people’s livelihood. Power transmission is the essentialpart of power industry. The development of UHVgrid is an effective way to solve theimbalance issue of energy resources and productive forces distribution. The situationthat a large number of towers to transmit the power are built in mountainous andinaccessible region requires further development of installation equipment-holdingpole.Holding pole is of lifting mast structure. Design and construction of holding poleshould be highly safe and usable. In order to ensure their safety and reliabilityperformance, loading testing must be taken based on design requirement beforehoding poles are put into use to verify the reasonableness and reliability of mast.The author analyzes the structure and loading bearing characteristics of differentmetal holding poles in the paper. Some calculation methods have been discussed, suchas the ratio of slenderness, loading bearing of single holding pole center, wind loadingbearing of mast and material of checked structure holding poles.In this paper, the ANSYS software is used to set up finite element model of innersuspension holding pole (900㎜×900㎜×40m). The experimental method ofcomputer virtual simulation is taken to simulate work conditions of the actual holdingpole. The deformation and stress field of holding pole under different load have beencalculated and their overall strength and stability tested. The results have validated itsdesign and predicted the stability and reliability of the actual working. Simulationresults show that the strength and stability targets meet requirements.With the help of ANSYS and Midas/Civil software, the finite element model of thesteel pipe holding pole has been built and its structure design has been optimized.The paper also introduceds construction plan for decomposing and assemdlingtower which can transmit1000KV. The tower is built with inner suspension holdingpole which has outer pulling line.
