The water damage of asphalt pavement has been one of the uppermost diseases inhighway. How to effectively reduce the water-damage, extend the life of the road has becomevery concerned about social issues and a question needed to solve now. Asphalt TreatedPermeable Base (ATPB) has a larger porosity, which can rapidly discharge the water overaccumulated in the pavement structure outside of the pavement structure. It is advantageous inreducing the early water damage and improving the durability of the pavement. Thus, studyingthe key technical characteristics of ATPB is important for optimizing pavement structure andimproving pavement operational performance and enhancing its service life.First, according to the uniform and orthogonal design test methods and specifications, todetermine the ATPB gradation rang, with use raveling test and drain-down test, asphalt contentrange is initially determined. By using large scale Mashall compaction test, the optimumasphalt content is finalized with stability, flow value, porosity, and other indicators, ATPBmixture ratio design procedures is recommended.Second, Based on compaction, intensity and other technological characteristics of testpavement cores, this paper considers the conformity of about the road actual conditions and thetechnological characteristics of molding specimens with different compaction methods, andput forward a appropriate compaction method for ATPB.Next, this article studys the performances of ATPB, which include high-temperaturestability, water stability and permeability. The rutting test results show that the ATPB has goodhigh-temperature stability and dynamic stability with the coarse aggregate to increase and theporosity increased gradually decreased. The immersion marshall tests show that the has goodwater stability. The infiltration tests show that the ATPB has good permeability. Finally, this article deals with the constructing technology of ATPB based on theexperimental road.
