SMA pavement has been researched more than20years in China, but it is a truththat mixture ratio design and construction technology of SMA pavement is not perfect.In some degree,different diseases,such as asphalt squeezed,water seepage appeared inthe construction and operation of SMA pavement, which had serious impact on thepavement performance. Therefore, how to use local materials to research performanceof SMA pavement has important theoretical significance, but also help to improve andpromote the technology of asphalt pavement of SMAFrom the SMA mixture material composition, mechanical strength mixturemechanism, and the effect of various materials, Characteristic of SMA mixture wasanalysed theoretically, and SMA mixture and ordinary mixture was compared andanalyzed. With comparation of Marshall method, BeiLei method, Superpavemethod,which are used more in gradation design of SMA mixture by domestic andinternational countries,their advantages and disadvantages are cleared.According to different areas and different materials of the specific circumstancesindexes and parameters of SMA mixture should be adjusted. Based on the actualsituation of highway project from Shiyan to Tianshui in shaanxi province,technologyrequirements was proposed which is suitable for technology index of raw materialsand mixture ratio design,and optimize three phases of the design of SMA mixtureratio.At the same time,the SMA construction technology, construction of the keytechnology are fully analyzed, and each index on quality of SMA pavement is tested,which meet the requirements of specification.
