Intelligent Transportation Systems Research And Application In Urumqi

Intelligent transport technology originates from developed America andEuropean countries. This traffic control system combines with a number offrontier fields’ achievements on information technology, communicationtechnology, Sensing technology and Computer processing technology. Along withthe traffic congestion was getting worse, United States, Japan and westernEuropean countries began to develop intelligent transport system (ITS) in theend of1980s. They invested a large amount of money and manpower tointellectualize road function and manpower. And they made huge success,alleviating their traffic congestion effectively. According to theirrealities, cities both at home and abroad are developing their own ITS.Therefore, when Urumqi is developing intelligent transport system, we haveto know intimately of our current situation, confronting our short board,integrating the existing system and facilities and making use of thetechnologies available to set a goal in the near future. The essay briefs thedevelopment of advanced ITS in the cities both at home and abroad, analyzingthe history and current situation of Urumqi’s intelligent transport systemin detail, raising the difficulties in developing ITS of Urumqi, and also putforward my own opinions and suggestions to resolve the problems Urumqi faced.
