As an indispensable means of conveyance, the motorcar brings more and moreinfluences in our living. With vigorous development of auto industry, more and more newmodels enter into the motorcar market. In the design and production process of the motorcar,designers forecast and evaluate automobile performance by analyzing characteristicparameters. In this way, designers can optimize parameters of the system and structure of themotorcar. It reduces research cost, shortens working hours and improves research efficiency.Therefore, car dynamics model foundation and automobile simulation become more and moreprevalence.This study dilates basic performances of the motorcar, such as vehicle dynamics, brakingperformance, fuel economy and handling directional stability. It analyzes characteristicparameters which have some connection with automobile performance and makingappropriate models according to different motorcar performance. The study designs ansimulation system of automobile performance by adopting the method of structuringdesigning and modularization programming. The system can make simulation of automobilelongitudinal dynamics (vehicle dynamics and braking performance), lateral dynamics(steering performance on low speed and handling directional stability on high speed) and fueleconomy by calculating the characteristic parameters.The simulation test indicates that operation of this system is very convenient, the resultindicates relatively accurate, interface of the system show friendly, system reliability isexcellent, program optimized easily. The system can achieve the purpose of advancingautomobile performance by optimizing characteristic parameters on the simulation. Thesystem can meet the anticipative requirement.
