Landscape Technology In Public Space At Wuxi Gonghu Bay Park

Wetland, the unique ecosystem in the world, is known as the kidney of the earth,which owns high ecological, economical, and social values. The Wetland Park is one ofthe most efficient projects to protect existing wetlands in restore the degradation ofdamaged wetlands and display the value of wetlands to the public. Wetland constructionin China is now in full swing. A large number of the projects only pursuit the short-termimplementation, ignoring the recovery process of the wetland ecosystem. Most of thelandscape technology application also runs counter to the objective laws of wetlandrestoration and construction.This paper takes the project of Wuxi Gonghu Bay Wetland Park as a starting pointto explore the landscape technology applied in the Park. Firstly, this paper summarizesthe landscape technology of the wetlands both on homeland and overseas, secondly thesoft systems method is applied to sort out practical problems in the research project.After all, it compares to the outstanding cases in order to find out countermeasures tosolve the problems in the research project.The master plan of the wetland park is target-oriented, which is based on theresearching information collected via site visiting, data collection, analysis andevaluation of the status quo. There are two technical topics to be researched, of whichextract from field surveys and planning objectives. They are identified as waterpurification, wetland habitat restoration. This paper tries to find out the ways to solvethe questions by landscape technology. It says that design works as solutions oftechnology, while technology acts as guideline in design. Therefore the research tries toexplore the relationship between landscape design and technology.The research of this subject is pointed to summaries the design process of wetlandparks and the landscape technology applied in these parks. The study also takesexamples from the advanced design concepts and technologies in the world to grasp therelationship of design and technology, so they can converge and combine better. Bywhich, it leads to explore the effective methods of planning.
