Urban distribution network will be moving in the direction of the high powerload and automation, intelligent, and orderly development of the needs of industrialand give the people a happy life. But manifestation of increased electrical equipmentleads to high power load, including a large number of non-linear load; automation andintelligent distribution network is to allow distributed power access. The above willbring the reactive power loss increases and the voltage fluctuation, power qualityproblems, the three-phase load imbalance to the distribution network. If we do notresolve the contradiction between the high electricity demand and low power quality,the social impact and economic losses will be very serious.The distribution network reactive power compensation can improve the powerquality. Operational characteristics of urban distribution network, this articlesummarizes the research results at home and abroad in recent years, practicality andcost-effective high static reactive power compensation device (SVC: Static the VarCompensator) stratified, zonal with reactive power program. Analysis of basic SVCtheory, to find a real-time to strike a power system reactive power, used PI controllerto improve the accuracy and reliability, to ensure the urban distribution networktheory analysis node reactive power stability. The conventional SVC control strategyto produce reactive power compensation current time was significantly shortened, sothat SVC can do the fast reactive compensation. Reactive power compensationinstallated in low-voltage distribution, so that the power factor and stability within thescope of the license.Finally, the MATLAB system simulation validation features of the SVC, andwith urban distribution network demonstration project, the installation of the SVCnode in the two electricity load, capacity for150kvar and300kvar. The applicationresults show that the SVC to complete the reactive power compensation and toimprove power quality. Finally, prove of the correctness, effectiveness and feasibility.of reactive compensation technology.
