The Research On The Surface Of Architecture Based On The Perceptual Aspect

The surface of architecture is the most direct medium through which we perceive the building. A large part of impressions and feelings of the building came from our perceptual experience of the building skin. In the era of visual consumption, the perceptual experience conveyed by the building surface is noteworthy.From the perspective of visual effects, this paper discusses the way of perceiving the building surface, including feeling, perception and other associated characteristics, and summarizes the constitutive elements which can arouses our perceptual experiences, such as setting, color, material, shadow, and so on, revealing the dynamic feature of people’s perception process. By using specific examples of building surface design, it analyzes, from the angles of one-dimensional element, two-dimensional map, the three-dimensional shape as well as four-dimensional roaming, our perceptual feelings deriving from various forms, and explores the interaction between the forms and the perception to get the emotional significance reflected in such forms.By gradually deepening and unraveling analysis, it encourages people to establish an interaction with the building skin, namely that more attention should be paid to the surface of building. Moreover, the design of architecture surface should also take people’s perception into account. In other words, the two elements should be promote and complement each other, rather than simply catering to the consumers.
