The Study On Characteristics Shaping Of The Panjin University Campus Space

Currently, China’s higher education has experienced more than one decade’s high-speeddevelopment, which promoted the construction wave of university campus. But, lots ofuniversities’ campus have been settled in suburban area, with problems which have been broughtto concern: ignoring characters of urban environment, the rupture of history and the loose ofcampus cultural atmosphere. Panjin university, being the prior construction project of Liaobinnew town starting district, with the obvious location advantage and enormous architecturaldimension, will make significant influence on the total development of Liaobin new town. TheCharacteristic features of Panjin university show both the need of showing universities’ identityand the demand of constructing urban image and new town features of the Liaobin new town.In view of Liaobin new town’s urban plan requirement and nature environment, Panjinuniversity advances “Integrity Locality Culture-oriented” as design principle, and formulate thedesign target as: modeling the new town landmark, constructing regional feature, fabricatingcampus culture. Thesis advance the idea from three aspects: Frist, the design emphasis the urbanfeature in the integral layout, which is about the adaption of new town landscape, water systemand littoral marsh. Second, the design emphasis the regional features in architectural level, whichis about the adaption of cold region weather, coast area and local material. At last, the designemphasis new campus cultural features in environmental level, which is about the study ofacademic culture, living atmosphere and eco-campus of the new century.Panjin university is a brand new institute, which at the same time is also a new campus in anew town area. Its environment is of strong mouldability. The study of such typical project ishelpful for the conclusion of the campus design’s concept and design method of the new era.This thesis hopes bring referential experience to the design and research of university campus.
