Evaluation Study On The Outside Space Environment Of Modern University Campus

With the development of the society and the economy, Chinese higher education is stepping a new stage, and our university campus construction is also developing more and more quickly. New designing and planning concept brings new changes for the university campus, and deep influence on the outside space environment of it. Although, at the same time, because of the quick planning and designing, many new problems are occuring, which influence the quality of the outside space environment of the new-built university campus. The outside space environment of university campus doesn’t only satisfy the need of regular using, but also provides a subtle influence on the students growth and leaming.In fact, the practical using results of the outside space environment of the new-built university campus usually show some unexpected gap compared with the original design intention. So this article studies on the outside space environment of modern university campus, looking for the problems by using the POE Method, and tries to bring up some feasible ideas on optimization designing.In this article, basing on the environment psychology theory, the author analyzes the mentality feature of the campus students first. Taking the example of the Feicuihu Campus of Hefei University of Technology, the author finds the elements of the campus environment and classifies their desires on it by using free-questionnaires, and sorts out the evaluation factors of the outside space. By using quantitative-questionnaires, the author combines the substance analysis with the statistic analysis, and studies for the reasons of the evaluating results. Through the study progress, it is found that different importance appear within different factors of the outside space, and some of the important factors are easily ignored in regular design. Then, with the authoritative-questionnaires, a new concept named "satisfied-saturation" is brought up to provide a standard for sorting the urgences of improving different factors. At last, the author provides some suggestions on improving the whole outside space quality of the university campus from the perspectives of physiology、 culture and ecology.
