| With the features of low cost and short period of construction, the gabledframes were applied extensively in our country. However, compared with thetraditional light portal-rigid frames which were common in engineering,cold-formed thin-walled steel gabled frames were not known very well, becausethey were developed much later. Meanwhile, the relevant research was notadvanced. So it is necessary to analyze this kind of gabled frame. Beam-to-columnconnection, the core component of this cold-formed thin-walled steel gabled frame, was chose to be analyzed under seismic cyclic loading in this paper. The construction of beam-to-column connection in this paper was a joint oftwo back-to–back cold-formed thin-walled steel plates with gusset plate, connectedby high-strength bolt. The included angle between beam and column was formedwith96degree, while the sectional forms of the beam and column were same, connected into I-shape section by two lipped C-sections back-to-back.On the basis of correlational research home and aboard, simulation analysis ofbeam-to-column connection of cold-formed thin-walled steel gabled frames wasoperated under cyclic loading by ABAQUS finite element. Through hystereticcurves of P-△and M-θunder cyclic loading, obtained by calculating, relevantparameters of connections were discussed, as well as stiffness, bearing capacity, energy performance, the modes of failure, and the strain distribution of theconnection members under cyclic loading. Six experimental cold-formedthin-walled steel joints were designed in this paper to analyze the bearing capacity, considering the influences by changing the gusset plate’s thickness and the spacebetween high-strength bolts. The research indicated that bending failure of connected position of columnwas the main pattern; there was not an obvious degeneration of bearing capacity onall the experimental joints under seismic cyclic loading; the bearing capacity wasincremental progressively and degeneration was stable when the node-platethickness and bolt-space increased; the initial stiffness was large, but degeneratedseriously under cyclic loading; and the hysteretic curves of each joints were fulland superior compared with other joints of the same kinds on energy performance. The results of this paper can give a reference to the design in engineeringapplication of cold-formed thin-walled steel portal frame system.... |
