With the development of modern industry of China, more and more large goods with bigdeadweight and big volume can not be moved by general use wagons. They must be movedby railway long and large freight cars. As long and large freight cars have bigger payloadcapacity, they mostly adopt four-axle bogies. Bogie is an important part for a railway wagonthat leads wagon running along the track, carries the loads from both car body and the track,and softens the dynamic loads by means of suspension system.Four types of four-axle bogies of different times are introduced, and more attention ispaid to the study of structure and dynamic test results.The influence of structure, suspension,snubber and side bearing for the dynamic performance is discussed. A new type bogie adoptssuch new structures as double level rigidity spring, constant contact elastic side bearing, andsnubber is designed. With the help of finite element analysis software Ideas to optimizing thebogie frame structure and dynamic analysis software NUCARS to emulating the dynamicperformance of the car, the new type of fore-axle bogie has better dynamic performance.The prototype wagon is put to field test after design and trial production to examine thedynamic performance. The test result shows that the car has good dynamic performance thatmeets the technical requirements of long and large freight cars.
