Research On Children’s Security Of Urban Outdoor Space

Childhood is an important stage of one’s life, and the development of children’s growth relates to the state and nation’s future. Studies have shown that adequate outdoor activities are a prerequisite for the healthy development of children, so concerned about their space requirements for outdoor activities becomes very important. However, many investigations revealed that children engaged in outdoor activities are fewer and fewer, and the low secure quality of the outdoor space is an important reason for it. Residential space for outdoor activities and civil square are major outdoor activity areas for children, its presence has affected the safety of children’s outdoor activities. Therefore, this article hopes to investigation and research,Outdoor living area space and the safety of children in the city square to conduct a comprehensive understanding and seek to improve their quality of children’s outdoor activity space security measures to safeguard the healthy development of children’s physical and mental.Based on previous research, this paper takes Child Psychology, Environmental Psychology, Environmental Defense and Landscape Architecture Planning and Design and other related theories as guidance to conduct the following analysis of the contents of study:(1) Though carrying on a questionnaire survey on early school-agers and their guardians living nearby Nanjing Agricultural University and Southeast University, this paper gains an understanding of children’s residential outdoor activities in the overall situation, analyses the Children and parents’safety psychological cognition to outdoor activity space and safety factors of spatial characteristics, also children’s unsafe experience and causes. Then the paper selects three typical residential areas for child safety analysis. (2) Researching on children outdoor activities security situation about civil squares. Five urban squares are selected as research objects in Nanjing city. By questionnaire survey of the early school-agers and their guardians, this paper makes an acknowledgement on the overall situations of children activities in the square spaces, analyses on safety psychological cognition of squares space characteristics factors between children and parents, the causes and cases of occurring children unsafe experiments.Then the paper chooses three squares from five for children safety analysis.(3) Comparison analysis on children safety status and children and parents’ psychological cognition between the residential areas and squares spaces, on this basis, some improvement measures and suggestions are given about security of outdoor activities spaces.
