The Application Matching And Optimization Of Boat Engine

As water transport tools, boats are not only used for ocean goods transport, butalso are developing rapidly as the senior leisure products in tourism, sighting, sportsand other aspects. Sailing power of boat comes from engine’s rotation energy, itdelivers to the propeller, and the propeller changes rotation energy into thrust force toovercome the resistance of boat, so that boat can sail at certain speed. In considerationof above, the matching design of propulsion system should begin with cooperationcharacteristics of boat, engine and propeller, chooses and adjusts their matchingparameters properly to achieve best matching between boat, engine and propeller,ensures boat’s motive power, and guarantees that the boat works in the fuel economicareas of universal characteristic to make the boat sail in best condition.This paper analyses respective characteristic of boat, engine and propeller, thenmakes analysis of their matching characteristics, introduces important parameters ofpropeller and how to use B style propeller map to choose and match engine andpropeller. Uses matching theories, basic methods, calculation steps to make analysisof boat’s performance which has been optimized. Introduces and applies the matchingsoftware-PropExpert for matching calculation. Then applying the matching theory tochoose engine and propeller for one particular small yacht, determines the parametersof engine and propeller. Under the premise of boat’s motive performance, makes boatwork in fuel economic area as well as emissions considered to achieve optimalmatching condition by changing transmission ratio appropriately. Then authorcompares the matching result with original machine in three aspects including motivepower, fuel economy and emissions. When the yacht sails at the design speed, notonly does the fuel consumption decreases, but also sailing mileage has increased andacquired a good matching effect.Finally, presses the layout of yacht’s engine’s room and finishes the ventilationcalculation, optimizes engine room management, completes the whole matchingprocess of boat, engine and propeller.
