The increasingly resource and environment problems have become the bottlenecks that restrict our economic development, and developed countries in Europe and America have built the green trade barriers aiming at our mechanical and electrical products exports. Green design and manufacture has become an inevitable trend, and it is the important measurement to improve mechanical and electrical products environmental attributes and international competitiveness. Life Cycle Assessment (LCA) is the key support technology of green design and manufacture. The available LCA methods are mainly aiming at the products data collection and building evaluation model to do environmental impact assessment, and they lack the use of general design information and mining of the potential design information, so they are not appropriate for the conceptual design stage.Conceptual design is an important stage and it is the key to success whether or not, which determines the70%-80%of the products properties. How to give an accurate evaluation about environmental and resource attributes of products life cycle in the conceptual design stage is the key of a successful green design. So, in this paper, the green design methods of mechanical and electrical products in conceptual design stage are studied in detail, and the model for products environmental attributes building and decision-making are established, which can support green design of mechanical and electrical products in China.(1) Based on the analysis of green design, the green design model of mechanical and electrical products in conceptual stage is established. Aiming at the need of model, a concept of green feature is proposed, the information in the process of green design is analyzed, and the connotation of green feature is studied. At the same time, the design information and potential information in the conceptual stage are mined, and then they are transformed into the green feature value through green feature modeling methods. Also, the design scheme decision-making methods using green feature are analyzed through fuzzy hierarchy analysis.(2) The model of building green feature aiming at conceptual design is established. Firstly, the expression methods of product schematic design information are studied, and it is a tree structure including parts layer, components layer, devices layer, function layer and scheme layer, with which the design information matrixes facilitating extraction of green feature are established. Then, the types of green feature and classification characterizing processing methods are analyzed according to life cycle environmental impact assessment ideas, and the green feature screening matrixes are established. Lastly, the screening and polymerization methods of green feature are studied, and the information expression models of schematic design are established based on green feature.(3) The green design software system are developed through C#programming language and SQL Server database technology on the basis of above theories and methods, and it includes operation layer, algorithmic layer and database layer. The basic database, consumer database and process database are established, operation interface is designed from four modules.(4) The Y80general motor is used as an example to study the process of green feature modeling, and its green features are obtained.
