The development of era and social needs endow new historical mission on universities and colleges. Colleges not only function as education and research, but also an important part of constructing regional city landscape scene. With the implementation of strategic reforms of higher education and "Prospering the Nation" strategy, many colleges and universities expand old site or construct new site to mitigate the pressure of campus environment which is caused by enrollment expansion. However, problems arise during the construction. In the early phase, the construction and reform lacks comprehensive analysis of campus culture and spirit. In the mid phase, planning is deficient. In the late phase, the construction quality is not guaranteed. This study is striving for enhancing and reshaping the dynamic characteristics of the campus landscape and meet the needs of growing demand on campus.The study starts from site visit to selected universities in Nanjing to develop investigations and research of campus landscape transformation. Deep research both of old campus and new campus landscape design is conducted. Combining theories and cases of campus landscape transformation, based on cultural heritage and regional characteristics, this study discusses problems and corresponded method of campus landscape transformation hieratically. Method and its possible of implementation are demonstrated in practical project. Finally, this paper concludes the thinking and construction way of campus landscape transformation to avoid possible problems. By following the scientific way of "Discover the problem-Research the problem-Resolve the problem", this paper is designed to be a reference for better development of campus landscape transformation and design in China.
