A large number of hydropower stations are under construction in the southwest ofChina. It’s important for geologist to evaluate the dam foundation rock mass quality,rock parameter and the dam design scheme, especially for the normal operation of thehydropower. Most of dam failures are resulted from the differential settlement,low shear strength and seepage. So it’s meaningful to do research on deformation andanti-slide stability of the gravity dam foundation.This dissertation is based on the Longkaikou Hydropower Station right bankfoundation.The detailed research of right bank foundation rockmass quanlity and stabi-lity is based on geological condition,field statistics,test data,from which the analysis ofgeology,numericial stimulation and rigid limit equilibrium method are adopted.The main researches are as follow:(1)The rock structure analysis is different from the distance between the fissureand the integrity coefficient. The rock structure is block, mosaic and loosens structurefrom the former method, and bonded, block structure from the later structure.(2)The right bank rock mass quality is basically good, mainly is Ⅱ-Ⅲ1, except therock that is affected by the F25-1fault.(3)Before and after the impoundment, the limited stress concentration like tesilestress exists in the dam heel. Before or after the impoundment, the tensile stress is0.2and0.4MPa there. The tensile area is under the safe scale of dam foundation. The totaldisplacement and direction are basically the same under the two conditions. Thefoundation stability safety factor is high from the strength reduction factor (SRF)(4)The anti-slide stability safety factors from3Longitudinal Profiles are meet thedemand of national standard, which are all bigger than4under the condition of natureand earthquake.The research shows that the rock mass quality, the deformation and anti-slidestability are all good of the right bank foundation of Longkaikou Hydropower Station,which can meet the requirement of the119m high dam.
