Laser-induced breakdown spectroscopy (LIBS) is a developing technique which is suitable for fast and in-site qualitative and quantitative element analysis.lt refers to use pulse laser which is energy above the plasma threshold to bombard the sample surface, along with plasma generation in the sample surface, using spectrometer to collect its emission spectrum signal, then using calibration method to analysis the target element’s composition and content. Because of LIBS’s analysis rapidly, high sensitivity, making the LIBS detector more widely. Especially in the field of environmental monitoring of pollution sources, industrial production line control. At present, the the LIBS practical research is a hot issue for LIBS technology. Based on the broad application prospects of the LIBS detector and the fact that relevant research started late in the domestic. In this paper,we design and develop a LIBS detector device, and a detailed analysis of therealization of the principle of the LIBS detector, in-depth discussion of several key technical issues in the implementation process. The paper structure is divided into six chapters, the first chapter outlines the history of the LIBS technique and LIBS detector applications, as well as the development status of the practical use of LIBS technology at home and abroad. The second chapter discussed on the physical principle of the LIBS detector, as well as its theoretical basisused in the actual testing. The third chapter from the laser system design, sample chamber system design and spectral analysis system to describes the general typical structure of the LIBS system detector respectively. Then introduced the development of the LIBS detector and supporting the coordination and control system in this paper. The system can assist the LIBS detector to complete the automatic detection and have auto-focus function. The fourth chapter analyzes general LIBS detection encounter the bottleneck problem of the spectral signal of instability, introduce the use of auto-focus method to improve the spectrum signal stability, and get a good experimental verification experimentThe fifth chapter discussed on the acquisition of laser induced plasma spectroscopy signal, depending with actual demand of the LIBS detector to select the the Toshiba TCD1304linear CCD detector for this system’s spectral acquisition, and based on FPGA develop the integration time adjustable driver circuit, and finally use the oscilloscope to numerical treatment for spectral signal, and achieved preliminary results. The last chapter summarized research work done in this paper, and prospect this project can continue in-depth.
