Deck pavement is a very important procedure of steel brigde production,anumber of diseases emerged from the very beginning of its construction,such asrutting,crack,potholes and extrusion.In the mass,three reasons caused thesediseases:lack of steel deck rigidity,physical and mechanical capacities could notsupport repeating load and environmental effects,lack of shear stress of interfacebetween pavement and steel deck.In order to sovle diseases of the conventional deck pavement,research groupdevised Ultra thin asphalt concrete+RPC composite deck pavement,this pavementwas different from conventional deck pavement which fixed shear nails on the surfaceof steel deck and sprayed chemical binder to combine RPC and steel deck to sovle thediseases,however,conventional deck pavement totally considered changing thethickness and material capacities.RPC has excellent physical and mechanicalcapacities which were suitable to serve as deck pavement material.Poor bonding ability was the essential reason caused extrusion,this articleverificated the shear stress of interface between ultra thin asphalt concrete and RPCwhich had grooves in the surface of RPC,RPC and steel deck which had shear nailsand binder on the surface of steel deck by shear test.The result of shear test surveyedthat interface binder could offer enough shear stress to resist testing load.Poormaterial capacities could not provide enough tensile stress which would causehorizontal,longitudinal and meshy crackings,Bending experiment tested on full scalemodel which imitated Mafang bridge.Cast-in-place concrete structures have some defects,such as poor convenienceduring construcing,poor quality reliabilities.Assembling concrete could eliminatethese defects. This article presented the assembling RPC composite deck pavement structure,and the composite deck pavement structure bending experiment had been tested to verificateprecast and cast-in-place connecting rabbet joint had sufficient tensile stress or not. Test resultsshowed that connecting rabbet could provide enough tensile stress to withstand a large overload.Ultra thin asphalt concrete+RPC composite deck pavement had been constructedon Mafang bridge.This article introduced the construction methods and steps whichcould be used as composite deck pavement construction standard.
