Since the geologic structure in the west southern of China is complicated, the unstable rock is one of the most harmful geology damages that are easy to be faced when there is engineering construction in this area. The process of the form of the unstable rock is slow, and it is strongly invisible, so the imbalanced damage is offhand to residents when the storm and earthquake happened. Moreover, these suddenly disasters may lead to several destroyable damages to the around citizens and buildings with a huge loss of properties. This paper takes an example of III unstable rock in the construction of the Secondary ShaPing Power Station, analyzes the geologic environment of this unstable rock, the influenced factors to the stability of the unstable rock, classified mode, calculation of stability, the strategies for controlling the stability of unstable rock, and simulation analysis.Based on the researches and analyses, the Ⅲ unstable rock is classified into three modes by the destroyed structure:tilting unstable rock, downfallen unstable rock, and slump unstable rock. After analyzing the actual condition of the unstable rock, the factors, which are contributed to the imbalanced destroy, are defined as rain and earthquake. This paper estimates the performance of three different modes of unstable rock under three different situations (dead load and natural fracture water pressure, dead load and rainstorm water pressure, and dead load and earthquake and natural water pressure). Further more, the author also discusses the influence of the rainfall and earthquake to the unstable rock by the field geologic analysis method.In addition, this paper discusses the protection method for this unstable rock, and compares the elongation and the process of tension of Pre—sreessed anchor. Running Plaxis to simulate the unstable rock before protection and comparing the displacement field and stress field, making sure the trend of the displacement and stress of the key position, and proving the correctness of the strategies for managing the unstable rock based on the static analysis method. Finally, this paper provides several recommendations for managing the unstable rock.
