Subgrade settlement is unavoidable during highway construction. A variety of road surface diseases are likely to be caused by subgrade differential. The impact of traffic load is the main consideration in highway pavement design, while the influence of the uneven subgrade settlement is ignored. Carrying out the investigation on subgrade differential settlement of the pavement structure is of great significance for guiding of the pavement structure design, reducing road structural damage and improving pavement life.Supported by Transportation Technology Projects of Hunan Province (No.:200413)"Highway Subgradet Settlement and Its Impact on the Pavement Structure", the emphasis of this dissertation is the research on subgrade differential settlement, including the following areas:(1) To has an overview of Leiyi Highway by field research. Investigation will be focused on the section which has disease harms, and the disease features and causes will be analyzed adequately.(2) In this part, the author will analyze the principle of subgrade settlement and summarize of the prediction method of subgrade settlement. The main purpose of this part is to find appropriate prediction method for this research through analyzing the data collected by using different prediction methods.(3) To establish the finite element model of mechanical response for the differential settlement of asphalt concrete pavement structure, and analyze three kinds of differential settlement:both sides of the settlement, the side of the settlement and the center settlement. The main aim of the research in this part is the influence of different uneven settlement and pavement structure parameters. To investigate the impact of the pavement structure parameters by orthogonal experimental design, in order to better guide the design and construction.(4) To establish the finite element model of mechanical response for the differential settlement of cement concrete pavement structure, and then analyze stress and deformation response of three kinds of differential settlement:both sides of the settlement, the side of the settlement and the center settlement. Finally, summarize the process of development of cracks of the concrete pavement structure and the process of structural stress changes.
