Nuclear technology is an important part of modern science, also is one of theimportant high-tech fields in the world. Radiation processing belong to civiliannuclear technology, plays an important role in the modern production process. Co-60is the most popular γ irradiation resource now. Until now, some of the Co-60resourcehave been or will soon face retirement along with Chinese irradiation technologydevelopment, it is urgent need to dispose of Co-60resource.This article describes the security measures, safety and quality control,environmental monitoring and comprehensive evaluation for Co-60source retirement.Indicate a scientific, practical, reasonable way to properly carry out safedecommissioning of radioactive cobalt source, radioactive pollution control, andeliminate security risks, protect public and environmental safety. This article submitthe disposal of decommissioned radioactive impact on regional environmentalquality evaluation index system base on the existing environmental assessment, theestablishment of a regional environment fuzzy comprehensive evaluation methodbased on fuzzy theory. The core of this method is fuzzy comprehensive evaluationmethod, use the dispose of irradiation facility decommissioning radioactive sources ofregional environmental quality as an evaluation factor, in particular, add a publiccomprehensive assessment survey factor, organic combined the regionalenvironmental quality and the psychological impact of the public survey, select"excellent, good, average, poor" set of indicators for the evaluation, using the analytichierarchy process (AHP) to give the weight of environmental evaluation factors set. atthe same time, the principle of weighted average results of the analysis of fuzzycomprehensive evaluation, to avoid the maximum subordination principle may resultin loss of information, obtain the comprehensive evaluation for the environmentalimpact of disposal the retired radioactive sources.This paper take example for dispose of a unit Co-60sources, using the fuzzycomprehensive evaluation to comprehensive evaluation the regional environmentalquality, verified the practicality of the method. Through research, provide a more comprehensive technical guidance for theirradiation facility decommissioning, and disposal of radioactive sources. Achieve thedecommissioning of radioactive disposal practices and operating proceduresstandardization of behavior. Provide scientific information for the governmentdecision-making, let the public understanding the regional environmental qualitymore intuitively, timely elimination of the psychological impact of the public; revealirradiation facility decommissioning of the possible impact of the regionalenvironment; provide a scientific proof for retirement security of radioactive sourcesand environmental assessment.
