The integrated automation of substation which refers to the use of advanced computertechnology, modern electronic technology, communication technology and signal processingtechniques, has achieve the integrated automatic function of the automatic monitoring,measuring, controlling, protecting, and scheduling communications of main substationequipment, transmission line and distribution line. In recent years, with the rapid growth ofthe national economy, the traditional substation has been far from being able to meet theneeds of the modern power system management mode. Therefore, the convention ofsubstation from the conventional station to the comprehensive self-station has graduallybecome a trend. However, because the technology of integrated automation has not yet beenfully mature, there is dissatisfactory inevitably in the protection of integrated automation.With this, the following work has been completed in the paper:1. The description of the various typical protection principle of the500kV substation(automated) system.The typical protection of500kV substation (automated) system includes the differentialprotection, distance protection, zero-sequence protection, over excitation protection, as wellas non-electrical protection. Differential protection, which includes the protection of The maintransformer differential, Line longitudinal league, bus differential protection and so on, is themost important and common protection of a comprehensive self-system and the mainprotection of electrical equipment. Distance protection is a kind of protection which candetermine the fault location and isolate fault by detecting the two electrical quantities ofvoltage and current. It can either be used as main line protection, but also as a back-up fordifferential protection.Zero sequence protection is a reflection of grounding situation of the equipment, and canisolate the fault in time. Over excitation protection and non-electrical protection mainly usingthe equipment of electric transducer, grounding change and so on can reach the scope that themain protection cannot reach in another way.2. The analysis of Typical Huizhou500kV substation protection action and puttingforward effective solutions.Huizhou power grid has four500kV substations, and the fifth500kV Chongwen stationis also in preparation. The protective equipment used has gone through several generations oftransformation, and has completed the transformation of the substation automation system.But some incorrect conditions are also found accompanied with various kinds of protective action in daily operation. In this paper, some typical protection action example of the Huizhou500kV substation in recent years was analyzed, some existing problems were pointed out andeffective solutions were also proposed.3. The optimization of design of the automatic protection of Huizhou500kV substation.A variety of targeted optimization measures were proposed by analyzing the typicalprotective action conditions of Huizhou grid comprehensive system.The future direction ofthe optimization of the comprehensive self-system protection of the500kV substation whichincludes computerization, networking, intelligence and integration. By making full use ofcomputer networks, artificial intelligence and integration, the future function of relayprotection will be effectively optimized; therefore the accuracy of movement will beimproved.
