Research On Plant Landscape Of The Wuxi Plum Garden

With the development of urbanization and people’s ecological consciousnessstrengthening, plant landscape is more and more important in landscape construction.While classical case’s system analysis has strong application and instruction value. In thispaper, plant landscape in Mei Garden of Wuxi was taken as research object. Based onquantity of relative documents and wide spot investigation, the history development andpresent status of Mei Garden of Wuxi were made clear.17classical landscape caseswhich could represent the plant landscape in Mei Garden of Wuxi were analyzed, aimingto provide certain reference to new Mei Gardens’ construction in different areas of China.Through the analysis about the classical cases, this paper summarized as follow:（1）The ornamental features and cultural connotation of the main plant materialsinvolved in the paper bring out the best in each other with the Mei flower in the MeiGarden of Wuxi. The ratio of evergreen and deciduous plants is about1:1.10, this alsofits Wuxi’s zonal vegetation characteristics. The proportion of arbor and shrub trees iscoordinational, but the herb layer species are very few, should be strengthened urgently.The flower-watching plants are the most of all plant species, and the next are theshape-watching plants, the foliage plants and the fruit-effect plant, the stock-watchingplants are the least.（2）Plant landscape types include entrance landscape, grassland landscape, forestlandscape, waterfront landscape, garden landscape and so on in the Mei Garden of Wuxi.They show different features in the planning and designing. Entrance plays a part individing space and eliciting theme, grassland provides scenery spaces for having a restand enjoying themselves, while waterfront, forest and garden category are mainly showthe rich and varied Mei flower landscape.（3）The features of plant landscape in Mei Garden of Wuxi were summarize as:①It inherits and carries forward traditional landscape planning and design method, plantlandscape of Mei Gardens contains theoretical ideas sequentially as conception-siteselection-suiting measures to different conditions-borrowed scenery-space construction -detail construction-artistic conception.②Broaden time limitation of enjoying thebeautiful Mei flower blossom by the wide application of Chimonanthus Praecox, tulips,Osmanthus Fragrans and other plant merterials, which made the Mei Garden containsdifferent sceneries in four seasons.（4）Two deficiencies were put forward about comprehensive value realization andgrassland space construction in Mei Garden of Wuxi, and this paper offered two specificoptimization suggestions:①Through the recovery planting of fruiting mei, opening upthe fruiting mei industry to keep the garden’s self-sufficiency, which adhering to theRongs’ original intention.②Borrowing the design skills of LingFeng Exploration MeiFlower’s plant space, transforming some existing grass space in Mei Garden of Wuxi tocomfortable and beautiful Mei flower theme grass space.
