Vacuum circuit breaker is one of the most important equipment in the power systems and as a dominant position in the field switch of Medium Voltage Distribution Network.Vacuum interrupter is the core of Vacuum circuit breaker, the vacuum degree is an important parameter of the vacuum interrupter and indicated the performance of Vacuum circuit breaker. The breaking capacity and insulation strength of Vacuum circuit breaker are also related to vacuum degree. However,the vacuum interrupter with online operation is quite different with the off-line, and the off-line detection device can only estimate the life of the Vacuum circuit breaker.So It is very urgent to develop a on line monitoring devices to solve this problem.Firstly, the article will be introduced the main vacuum detection methods, analyzed their advantages and disadvantages respectively and proposed a new method. And then it told the structures of test platform, including the vacuum interrupter vacuum unit transformation, debugging, vacuum gauge. Secondly, design of the inspection equipment of the probe, signal regulate circuit, acquisition circuit and PC interface display have been described. There exists of two different types of discharge base the experiment the test data and pulse discharge waveform. Finally, the problem of interference,sensitivity issues, datavalidation issues have been discussed and given the corresponding solution.The detecting principle of the developed device is quantitative analysis of high frequency components of the waveform of the pulse discharge. there is no interrupter discharge phenomenon at high vacuum and atmospheric pressure in the environment, only to detect two different amplitude of the frequency sine wave. When the vacuum get down, the fundamental component and high frequency components of the discharge pulse waveforms are significant changed. The value of high-frequency component can be as a indirect response to the changes of vacuum degree.
