With the development of electrified railway, locomotive speed has been greatly improved. However, the offline situation of pantograph-catenary system is more serious, and the electromagnetic disturbance which generated by the pantograph-catenary system is becoming people’s concern. The electromagnetic environment of the high-speed train is very complex, and the offline arc is one of the major sources of electromagnetic interference. The electromagnetic disturbance is an advanced topic in the research of pantograph-catenary system. In addition to start from the simulation, the measuring is an effective approach to discover and solve the problem of arc electromagnetic disturbance. However, the traditional standard tests are often difficult to achieve because of the time-consuming, steps tedious and demanding test environment. Therefore, electromagnetic interference test system is of great significance for the traditional measuring work efficient and easy to implement.Firstly, this paper summarizes the classic arc mathematical equation. And then considering the factors influencing on the arc formation from macroscopic views, established the offline arc model in traction power supply system based on the theories of arc and gas discharge, and the offline arc modle was simulated by MATLAB. The results show that the high-frequency electromagnetic disturbance generated by offline arc.Secondly, this paper analyzed measuring method based on the national standard (Railway application-Electromagnetic compatibility) and the characteristics of offline arc. The measuring work which includes the spectrum and field strength of the electromagnetic interference has been done. Through data analysis to obtained the amplitude-frequency characteristics of the pantograph-catenary arc electromagnetic interference.At last, an electromagnetic interference measuring system for pantograph arcing was introduced which make the measuring work become efficient. The overall design was completed which includes hardware components and equipment connections. Further more, the paper compiled the program of instrument control module based on GPIB, data acquisition module and GPS signal reception module. Finally, the operation results indicate that the system can measure the electromagnetic interference due to pantograph arcing.At the same time, the value of real-time spectrum, maximum-hold spectrum, train speed and position can be displayed, and the system meet the design requirements.
