In the end of2009, Jingang investment company in GaoGang district, TaiZhou city invited Nanjing University Architecture Design Institute to get involved in TaiZhou city, GaoGang district waterscape block planning and design. This project locates at the center of Kouan Town, GaoGang District, Taizhou City. The block is bounded by Xiangyang Road to the west,60meters apart from West Chaixu Road to the north, Jingang Road to the east, Xiangyang Branch to the south. And the block is270meters from east to the west,330meters from north to the south, and is8.44hectares in area. In the former planning, the block is subdivided into several areas, and delivered to different architects to design separately. I, with great honor, leaded by Doctor Ling Zhou, got involved into the design and study of parts of the block.During the design and study of Taizhou city, GaoGang district waterscape block, designers attempted to introduce new architectural forms, which are neither simply copying traditional forms, nor eliminating traditions and pursing brand new forms. Designers attempt to collect cultural connotation from architectures. And create new architectural forms based on "metaphor" and" symbolization". This dissertation elaborates each architectural form in this block, from the conception, design, construction drawings and construction site feedback through all the design process.Chapter One introduces the context and background, significance, main contents and the structure of this dissertation. Chapter Two clarify the background of this project and the main overview of this project. Firstly Chapter Two give the site location a brief introduce, mainly review the local context and historical background of KouAn Town, GaoGang District, TaiZhou City, and the historical buildings remaining situation in the block. And what should the design response to the city and the district is also encompassed in Chapter Two. Secondly Chapter Two demonstrate the basic situation of the block, the project task requires, former planning and so on, which provide the base of design process in the next part of dissertation. Chapter Three is the main part of this dissertation. I choose3representative architectural forms in3representative part of the block to elaborate. This part elaborates each of the3architectural forms from the conception, design, construction drawings and construction site feedback through all the design process. Chapter Four based on the practical experience, conclude the design process of this project and induce suggestions for other comparable projects to learn from. Conclusion as the last part of the dissertation, point out the main achievements of this dissertation and also the deficiencies expected to be further explored.
