This paper studied the application of Hydraulic position limiting for a militaryoff-road vehicle.Military off-road vehicles require high maneuverability and off-road capabilityfor the complicated environment. On poor road, the maneuverability and off-roadperformance of vehicles are not only determined by the powertrain, but also by theriding comfort. The shock absorber is one of the most important components of thesuspension system and used for the attenuation of the vibration of vehicles. It is ofgreat significance to improve the riding comfort and safety of vehicles.The hydraulic limiting structure is the key part of the hydraulic limit dampercompared with the ordinary shock absorber. The damping force will increase rapidlywhen the piston of the damper moved to the limit position. That is benefit forreducing the probability of the impact of suspension on the vehicle body andimproving the ride comfort of the vehicle on poor road.In this paper, I built shock absorber model and a quarter vehicle model by thesoftware of AMESim, and solved the problem of inserting the hydraulic model ofdamper to the vehicle model in the same simulation environment. The hydraulicmodel of damper is build based on the conformation of damper, which can be used forthe designing and development of the damper.In the latter section of the paper, I introduced test methods and evaluationmethods of vehicle ride comfort, selected simulation conditions, simulated andverified the improvement of the vehicle ride comfort, and analyzed the vehicle ridecomfort influencing by different hydraulic limiting positions.
