This dissertation analyses and designs a new type of single-phase induction motors(SIM)——-SIM with magnetic motive force(M.M.R) coils on yokes.Firstly, based on principles of operation and analysis method of SIM with traditional structures, the dissertation analyses principle of operation and analysis method of SIM with M.M.F. coils on yokes. Ansys Maxwell software is used to design a4-pole SIM with magnetic motive force(M.M.F.) coils on yokes rated at60W.Secondly, the equivalent calculation method is used, which is:The whole-turn length (lZ) of SIM with M.M.F. coils on yokes is equivalent to half-turn length(lB) of SIM with traditional structures. And then a rated power60W,4-pole capacitor-run SIM with M.M.F. coils on yokes used in range hood is designed. By the way, the design results and basic steps of electromagnetic field finite element were analysis by Ansys Maxwell software.Thirdly, a condition that SIM with traditional structures can be replaced by the SIM with M.M.F. coils on yokes is summarized:lZ must be smaller or equal to lB. And with Ansys Maxwell software, the electromagnetic fields finite element calculations are done for two types of SIM, and then by the comparison of no-load characteristics (starting time, steady speed, no load current, starting torque) and load characteristics (starting torque, steady torque, steady speed and load current), it is presented to prove that the conclusion lZ≤lB is correct.Lastly, the accuracy of equivalent magnetic circuit method is proved by comparing the RMxprt’s results with Maxwell2D’ results. Also, the Tab.le that fits the using habits of engineering technicians is presented by Excel design. The copper wire that we need for the new type single-phase induction motors is20%less compared to the SIM traditional structures. Therefore, it’s significance for us to reduce motor costs and save nation resources. In the meantime, an innovative armature structure for SIM is provided.
