Nowadays, for the increasingly concerns about the energy crisis and environmental protection, electric vehicles, with its unique advantages, have become the major development direction of auto companies. Thanks to the strong support of our country, more and more enterprises have entered the ranks of electric vehicle development. In this paper, researches on the Vehicle Control Unit(VCU) testing are carried out, having its background of electric vehicles and targeting VCU.Firstly, a deep investigation and analysis of domestic and foreign electric car, the status and key technologies of VCU test has been done. According to the technical requirements, the detailed design for the VCU testing platform has been finished.Secondly, the hardware design of the VCU testing platform is carried out taking MC9S12XE100as a core, including53output channels and20input channels. Output channels are used to simulate all the electrical signals produced during electric vehicles driving process, input channels are capable of real-time monitoring of VCU’s output state.Thirdly, software for the VCU testing platform is designed in the CodeWarrior environment, and it can drive the hardware circuit to generate electrical signals during various conditions. At the same time, it can deal with the VCU feedback signals. The upper computer software design takes LabVIEW as the core and a friendly user interface is provided, which can help the users to complete the VCU performance test. The PC software can send the vehicle’s condition information and simultaneously display and storage the feedback on VCU state.Finally, the VCU test platform has been tested, and the test results were analyzed to validate that the design for the testing platform of VCU can reach the technical requirements. At present, the VCU testing platform has been put into use formally in Beijing Automotive New Energy Automobile Limited Company, and achieved very good results.
