Mass Customization is a new mode of production for enterprises to provide customers with product customization by high efficiency and low cost mass production. Mass Customization is a new way for21st century enterprises to gain a foothold and seek development in the increasingly keen competitive market. Along with customers increasingly rich, diverse and personalized demands, mass customization with customer as its center is becoming trendy production mode. However the traditional product centric mass production cannot follows the stream. Designing for Mass Customization is the core technology of achieving mass customization. The innovation of product design technology will produce far-reaching influence to production mode of society.With this background, this thesis focus on the product family design technology under mass customization. Starting from product family design technology, according to the study background and significance, taking wall jib crane as the subject, specific researches as follows:(1) Through the research of lifting machinery, the current state of application and designing of wall jib crane is summarized. The development state of advanced design techniques and the study situation of product family design are introduced in detail.(2) General method of product family design is discussed. Based on traditional modular principle, generalized modular principle and modular design technique are analyzed. Structure analysis and modular division of wall jib crane were done. The system frame of product family design is studied on three levels:theoretical approach, system development and results outputting.(3) Product family planning to the wall jib crane is done. Detailed structure designing and further module division is done for the four modular:electric block, cantilever, column and walking cart.3-D model and assembly structure model of corresponding module are established in Inventor.(4) Generalized parametric modeling technology in product family model, including parametric design technology and holographic modeling technology, is discussed. Object oriented parametric technology and the realization in components modeling of parametric technology are presented. The idea of holographic modeling is elaborated, which structure the information model and the3-D geometry model of product into an integrated whole. The product information model includes structure attribute, experimental knowledge and so on. The application of holographic modeling technology in components modeling and in its linking with engineering drawings BOM information is researched.(5) The secondary development languages are VB.NET and Inventor API. Through the secondary development technology, the product design system of wall jib crane is established on the Autodesk Inventor platform. The design system consists of functions such as the automatically building of3-D holographic model, the automatically generating of engineering draw, the established of parts library and product library.
